While adolescence is a time of risk-taking for all youth, experimenting with drugs and alcohol can have devastating effects for noncitizen youth. Drug and alcohol use and offenses can lead to a youth being found inadmissible, and can be considered as negative discretionary factors in applications for relief. This training will review the immigration consequences of common drug and alcohol-related offenses in juvenile and criminal court and offer strategies to avoid the most problematic of these.
